NS&I savings certificates tracking

Hi,
Can someone answer a  question regarding NS&I savings certificates. Unfortunately NS&I are not answering their phones thanks to some sort of flu going around ;-)
Prior to 2017, NS&I provided a complete holders record annually but no longer. On that record it says that certificates issues prior to sept 2012 are omitted from the statement. The NS&I website also says that online accounts also exclude pre-sept 2012 certificates.
I have a pile of pre-2012 certificates. Can I assume that these rolled over into new investments and can be destroyed?
Thanks

Can't you match the certificates against your current holdings?  Your current holdings can be viewed online.  If you took no action when you were informed that your old certificates had matured, they would have been rolled over to new ones, at least this is the case for the Index Linked ones, I don't know about others.  The expiry dates for the new ones should match up with the expiry dates of the old ones (except for the year, obviously).

No unfortunately everytime a certificate matures it gets a new account number - stupid system - so I can only assume that these old certificates matured into new accounts but cannot verify that.
Matching the date might be worth trying.
I am some what puzzled by ns&i statement that they don't include pre-2012 certs in statements or online. If they've all matured into new accounts there wouldn't be any pre-2012 certs anyway.
These are both index linked and fixed interest certs.

Yes, the numbers do change but you should be able to match the dates.

As my old pre 2012 certificates each matured and rolled over into new ones with the same term duration the NEW one then appeared in my online account.
As I was one of the earlier sign ups to NS&I online, it took a while before all my certificates were appearing online gradually: a cert taken out in 2011 for 5 years would take till it rolled over in 2016 before it appeared online.
I was doing much as you suggested - as each one appeared online I then destroyed the old certificate
This applied to both I.L and fixed interest certs.
The numbers of the accounts do change when any cert' matures - I guess this is because the maturing cert might roll over into into a new issue No' with new interest rate conditions.

That all sounds logical. I'm going to assume that as the longest term is 5 years that the online record is now complete and these pre-2012 certificates can be binned. Hate to chuck money away if I'm wrong.
