Charge back help

Hi,

I recently made a purchase off a website called DHGate and my item never arrived after 3 months.

The seller provided tracking and the tracking indicates that the item was collected from my local post office, however this is not the case as i never collected it.
I have been onto royalmail and they only advise that i need to go back to the sender and they need to query it. I did this and they apparently queried it (doubtful) and they just said tracking says collected nothing we can do, go to your local post office and complain. Again, royalmail say this need to be done by the seller.
The seller wont give a refund and i cannot do anything with the tracking so i raised a chargeback with my credit card company. They have come back today and said that DHGate have refunded my £14.83 when the full amount is £94.

What can i do about this as i do not agree with this decision and want to contest it but want to see what rights i have and where i stand, if i have any chance?

Thanks for your help in advance

  • I am slightly confused by this...

if you ask a credit card company for a chargeback of £94 then that is exactly what they will do

obviously the Merchant can contest it but the initial charge back should be for that amount

Where does the £14.83 come in

i have no idea where the £14.83 comes in, the only contact I have had with the credit card company is I raised the initial claim, they contacted me for information, I provided information, they suspend the £94 charge whilst investigating and then they have just come back with this, all this has taken around 3 months.

I’ve only done a charge back once previously and that was with another company and they refunded the amount and the seller could contest over x amount of days, not sure if that’s what’s happened here but this hasn’t been communicated to me

  • Well unless somebody has any more information or a better idea I would raise a complaint with the credit card company saying that the chargeback was for £94 and not £14.83
