Travel Insurance

I took out a Staysure policy to cover a trip to the USA in April. The trip was cancelled due to Covid. I realised that I had not asked for a refund on the unused policy, so I called Staysure today. They said that they could not offer a refund on the policy. Staysure had made various compensatory provisions for cancelled trips, but these were not available to me because the policy had expired! I pointed out that these provisions should have been notified to customers when Staysure became aware of the Covid travel situation. Their reply was that the information was on their website! I also have an annual European policy. The best that Staysure would offer was a goodwill gesture on the US  policy, a cancellation and pro rata refund on the European policy and 15 months for 12 on a new "annual" policy. Staysure have had £600 of my money for the two policies and I have only had £220 credit provided I buy another policy at an additional £140. Staysure have been able to trouser around £500, a nice little earner if you do that to 10 people a day.

Same situation with me. I would have expected a voucher from Staysure for a future trip.
Basically I received a curt email from them saying I was not entitled to any kind of refund and the subject was closed.
    Essentially '!!!!!! off'.

Presumably the policy provided protection between when the booking was made and when the trip was cancelled?

You had cover from the date you booked until it was cancelled. If you had been unable to travel due to illness or accident  no doubt  you would  have claimed from your insurance . The fact that you didi not need to claim is irrelevant.
If you had holidayed and not had to claim would you expect a refund? After all you have  not  needed  to use it.
DO expect a refund of your car insurance if you do not make a claim during the year?
Do you xpect a refund from your house insurance if you do not make a claim during the year?
