UPDATE - 1st in the phone queue this morning, telephone consultation with doctor 0930.   Back to the receptionist now to arrange blood tests .

PS if you want to see a doctor on the day come at 1700  and queue -  that's what it was like when I was growing up

Have you checked your surgery's website?  Mine now recommends using an app called DoctorLink - which I have used twice to request an appointment (had phone consultations within a few hours of making the requests) and to request repeat prescriptions

    Thankyou Kittenchops but mine doesn't.
Gone through the EMIS registration online - I think I had registered once before but found it unfriendly. Hopefully its improved.
To complete registration I need to visit my surgery. Perhaps when I have my blood tests next week.

My local surgery recently started up with online consultations.
I contacted then after getting an infection in my finger because of a cat bite and all I needed to do was give a good description of what happened, the action I had already taken and give a photograph of the finger  and I had a prescription for antibiotics waiting in my local chemist the next day.

I know it's not suitable for everyone all all problems but in my case it worked perfectly and meant that I wasn't tying up a doctor's appointment for a minor problem.

My local surgery also now have an online system and you select various options and fill out some questions and they usually get back to you within a few hours during working hours. If you give enough details they can just email back with recommend treatment and/or a prescription sent electronically to collect immediately from the chemist or they will give you a call to discuss it/arrange an appointment.
This system works extremely well and is far easier than taking the time to call.
