Car Insurance Quotes

Hi,

Me and my husband will be applying for a mortgage towards the end of this year. Our credit isn’t great so we are having to be extra careful with outgoings etc. Now my husbands car insurance is due for renewal and the quote from his current provider is pretty poor (increased by quite a bit from last year) If I go on the compare websites will it effect things, or will it just be soft searches. Then the next problem is ideally we need to pay monthly like we are currently doing so is that going to be another credit application? If we just choose to renew with his current insurance provider (Monthly) will they do a new credit application anyway?

Thank you

Searching for quotes on a price comparison site won't have any impact on your credit file.  Taking out a new insurance product and paying monthly will, as you're entering into a new credit agreement.  If you're renewing your existing policy, they won't *usually* do a fresh credit check.
