    I looked into extending our dropped kerb, our local council wont allow a droppd kerb if there will be fewer than 5 full height kerb stones between dropped kerbs. This would stop us as the neighbour is closer than that.  They say it's to maintain the amount of on-street parking available. In the example on their website they show a terrace of 3 houses, with the end 2 with dropped kerbs and showing that if the middle terrace applies, they won't get it as there won't be 5 full height kerbs on either side of the new dropped kerb. They also make the point that what has been allowed in the past may not be allowed now, so assume nothing from looking at what other people have already got.

    It does not really matter what the price of the house it, as it stands it's no good for you.  Let the vendor know asap. These things happen.

    Well that would be a boon for the OP as the council in this example have installed the bollards to force the homeowner to pay for a dropped kerb!

    I agree with what others have said if home owner hasn't lowered kerb could suggest they council have rejected application. Equally just because other neighbours have lowered kerb, offers no guarantee you will be able to (as planning permission criteria is constantly changing). A friend of mine was refused permission in Leicester as the gradient was too large (even though it was comparable to neighbours drives). He's only option was to tear up the new drive that had just been put down to make it more level or just admire he's lovely paved garden (he part exchanged in the end so became builders problem). And like others have said if council refuse to drop the kerb then you aren't legally allowed to use the drive. So if you need a drive it sounds like pulling out will be the wisest move.
