Should I add a correction note to explain my lack of credit card?

My credit scores are healthy but the one thing I would like to change about my reports would be the fact that I don't currently have a credit card...
I have had credit cards for years and have always paid them off, but my most recent one was a Tandem card which decided in March that it wanted to introduce a monthly charge. As I don't need it (I would only use them to improve my credit score), I cancelled the card. The reason that i haven't simply taken out a new one is that I'm currently in the middle of buying a house. I exchanged contracts on a new build in January that was due for completion in May but, for the obvious reasons, this is now constantly being pushed back. I know that my mortgage company will almost certainly stop granting me extensions eventually (the latest extension runs until August) and so I will have to apply for the mortgage all over again. Because of this, I know it's not a good idea to apply for a credit card now. However, I still want my credit reports to be watertight when the new mortgage search does take place, and the lack of a credit card could be a red flag (it's a Catch 22).
I'm just wondering whether it would be a good idea to put a correction notice on the reports explaining these circumstances, or whether this might just look strange and I should rely on the strength of the rest of the data?

Adding a notice of correction makes lenders scrutinize your credit report a lot more closely.Your credit history is what is important. Not having a credit card, at present is not a big deal.0

Your credit file goes back 6 years - so if you've had a credit card - it'll show how you managed it. Don't add any notice of correction.0
