I am saving this thread for anyone who wants to be a LL, accident or otherwise.

Things a LL shouldn't do is follow what the OP does, absolutely clueless on their legal and tax liabilities and think they can rent without the HMRC knowing

    Absolutely.

    Absolutely.
It's good that you are looking at your legal responsibilities.

Your attitude will not win many prizes unfortunately. If you respond to people who are trying to help this way, how will you respond to your tenants who need repairs doing at 3am because of a leak, and so forth. Or when they stop paying rent? When you want to return to your home, but realise that you have zero right to be there and need a hotel for 6 months?

Great, so I am to be called absolutely clueless about my liabilities which is what a forum is for, yet when I agree with 'absolutely' (a term used by the poster) I have a bad attitude and 'think' things that are completely untrue. Society summed up to a tea, too busy correcting other people instead of correcting yourself.

You have to admit that asking if some kind of "accidental" status means you will get a free pass when it comes to paying tax is not exactly clued up...

Great, so I am to be called absolutely clueless about my liabilities which is what a forum is for,  forum is a decent place to start but make sure you get proper advice on tax matters if you don’t understand them - HMRC aren’t going to take kindly to your excuse that you didn’t pay tax but you asked for help on a forum, yet when I agree with 'absolutely' (a term used by the poster) I have a bad attitude and 'think' things that are completely untrue. I think your attitude up to that point was maybe the problem? Society summed up to a tea (sic, see Comment above) too busy correcting other people instead of correcting yourself. So you don’t want to be corrected?
    to summarise:
    You asked a question
You didn’t get the answer you wanted
Started making bizarre comments about what paper people read
Started insulting people who have given their time to help you for having too much time on their hands (higher level of logic than I’m capable of)
Now claiming you don’t have a bad attitude
    Have I missed anything?

Loving the passive aggressive 'you have to admit' watched too much Midsummer Murders. Yeah I agree. Again, you are right.

    to summarise:
You asked a question - Correct
You didn’t get the answer you wanted - Says who?
Started making bizarre comments about what paper people read  - Your opinion, but you think bizarre, I think correct
Started insulting people who have given their time to help you for having too much time on their hands (higher level of logic than I’m capable of) - Insulting, again subjective, but if you are insulted, that's your emotion to deal with
Now claiming you don’t have a bad attitude - I've made no claims stating this.
Have I missed anything? - Yes, do not become a detective or a judge because your summary will not cut it.
If you had stayed factual, impartial and not agenda based in your response, you'll make it.
    As you were

In a recession many people who "accidentally" become landlords won`t be able to find a tenant anyway, that should cure many of their legal/tax issues before they start? All they have to do then is find a buyer.
