O/S Daily Sunday 5 July 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloud with the sun trying to peek through.
DH wtching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was sweet chilli chicken skewers, bbq beef kebab, mixed herbs chicken and savoury rice - all enjoyed. Lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, broc, cauli in cheese sauce, HG green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy.
Menfolk will be watching the GP later. I'll be chilling - no pack ups to make as we're both on annual leave as we should have been on hols in Scotland this week, leaving yesterday - hoping we can go next year, as we'd picked that particular place so we could explore that area and travel to Isle of Skye - as I've never been. I'll be finishing this cuppa and then getting a shower and making a start on the lunch prep shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning folks. Thanks NMLC for starting us off. Shame about your trip but Skye will still be there next year, and without any worries.I've been awake for ages watching the tide and the wind. We were forecast life-threatening wind speeds which haven't materialised yet. It's bright sunshine still.Yesterday the farmer stopped for a chat on his way to help a calving cow in the next field. Later his wife also stopped, this time for a longer chat. She always makes me laugh was she walks the dogs in her car, they run ahead and back as she drives very slowly round the tracks. 🤣 Once she even collected a horse from the field and walked it back with the lead through the car window. I love this place and its people. 😅DM is again doing OK following a bad night on Friday. A new regime of drugs will be started tomorrow to try to get her heart rate running normally. I was startled to find out tyst she's on an HDU ward, however that means that there's always a medic close by. I'm less fearful than at any time since Tuesday.I'll be packing up soon to return to Glasgow. I feel so much better for having been here for this short while. If DM remains in for longer I'll come back up and make the most of it.For now I wish everyone a happy Sunday, hope you enjoyed the wee bit of freedom from yesterday.12

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc. Enjoy your holidays. The west coast is so beautiful. You will have a lovely holiday there next year.Gers, so glad you’re enjoying your break back in your lovely home. Your neighbours sound fab 😃. Your DM is being well cared for. Am wishing her well.DH has decorating our livingroom so today it’s sorting out which pictures, if any, are going up. I’m loving the plain walls. I don’t have any pictures in the bedroom and only two shells on my bedside cabinet, clock and a lamp. I like seeing clear spaces.High winds here but the sun is out. Showers today though.I’m off out with the dog. Love a walk in the wind.Easy tea of something 😂.Have a good day all x11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC . A shame about your holiday plans. GERS been thinking about you and DM, She sounds to be getting looked after really well and you have managed to relax a little and enjoy your little break at home.
Well if this is summer bring back spring! We are paying the price for the gorgeous April/May well and truly. The wind and rain was battering us all night. The rain has stopped for now but the wind is still with us. But at least it feels milder! I went out to feed the birdies and nearly got blown off my feet.
The mobile hairdresser I and 2 friends use got in touch with us all yesterday to say she is working (with precautions) and were we wanting our locks doing. We had a discussion between the 3 of us and have all decided to bite the bullet so she is visiting the 3 of us in turn tomorrow afternoon.- masks at the ready. I feel a bit apprehensive.
Not much planned for today (again!) a bit of pottering and prepping lunch then feet up this afternoon, book in hand.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. (I haven't seen MONNA on here for a few days, I hope all is ok with her). Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning All
Gers, glad you've enjoyed your bit of normality, take care on the drive down, it's pouring down here one minute and brilliant sunshine the next!
nmlc - you'll enjoy your holiday better next year!
I'm off for a walk in a minute, need to get out for some exercise, I'll no doubt get soaked but never mind. White wash in the machine now, it'll go on the rack when it's done.
Had a lovely lunch with DD & Co yesterday, Sophie was into everything and enjoyed throwing her lunch everywhere! Nothing planned for today, I was going to visit the farmer's market but that's been cancelled due to the weather, I think it's on tomorrow instead.
Have a happy Sunday, take care. XX11 -
Morning Everyone ,
I have come back to the forum after a few months break from the forum.
It has been a strange few months where I have been worrying about my mom in the care home, the not being able to go out enabled me to tackle the garden and have a good clean of the house.
My DD is a nurse in a hospital.
Now we have to live our lives in a new normal as the keep telling us. I go shopping early in the mornings to avid the crowds. I am back at work in a 'Bubble' . I also do some voluntary packing the food parcels at a local food bank.
The worst thing for me has not being able to see my mom and daughter. Visits to moms home have just resumed, A visit to DD will have to wait a bit longer as she is in London. I have not seen either since March.
Hope everyone is keeping as well as they can ILC

Morning all,
Thanks for the start nmlc. Whatever you do, make sure that you go to the west coast of Scotland before the midges set up shop. I had a great friend who lived on Harris and I well remember her wrapping her head in a teatowel to get her washing in.
Gers, Glad to hear that your DM is being well looked after. It must be bitter-sweet being in your lovely home and knowing that you have to leave it again so soon. What a horrible situation you are in. You can't know what to hope for.
wmf, I also love clear spaces, but also like the homely, slightly-cluttered look. I tend to veer wildly between the two. Talk about a split personality!
TA, I'm around, just slightly overwhelmed by life atm. Don't know what to do first so end up doing nothing and then feeling guilty and even more desperate. It'll pass. It always does.
I had my hair cut yesterday and the precautions were amazing. Waiting outside the tiny salon, (only 2 stylists in there,) being taken in, mask on, hands sanitized at the door, temperature taken, hairdresser clad in disposable gown, mask and clear visor, I was wrapped in a disposable gown, hair cut (oof! that was good) and I was waved off as she did a deep clean before her next client. No chances being taken there.
Raining here too Camelot. I did smile yesterday, thinking of all the pubs turning their Car parks into desirable al fresco drinking places. I saw on the news, one who had turned his car park into a beach. I hoped they all enjoyed their drinks wrapped up warm in raincoats and holding their umbrellas.
Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday in spite of the weather.

Morning all
Its been raining on the night but seems to have stopped now and the sun is coming out hopefully we are in for a nice day, did not get out on the bikes yesterday as it kept raining, instead we took the dogs for a long walk in the woods and managed to stay relatively dry.
TA I am envious of your haircut I desperately need one my hair is so thick it needs a cut and thinning out I think I will see if anyone will come to the house.
I think we will try for a bbq for dinner if the weather holds we have not had one this weekend and OH is getting twitchy
Will try again for the bikes today and walk the dogs later.
I have to report that the Valerian tablets worked wonders !! they did not make me get to sleep any quicker but seemed to keep me asleep all night, long may it continue !!
Have good days all xx

Hello all. The rain has finally stopped.I have stripped the bed and the wm is on with the bedding, I hope it has a chance to dry.I spoke to Dad last night and asked him if he wanted to "bubble up" with us as he and Mr Fix It are still shielding and neither household has been out into the wider community. I asked him to lunch and tea on Tuesday, but he ummed and ahhed til I said I could also cut his hair, that sealed the deal. TBH I thought he would have been a bit more pleased as he's always moaning that he has no one to talk to. I could have "bubbled up" with DD and the DGC as we are all desperate to be able to have hugs, the DGC especially want to stay overnight, but they are all back in schoolSeems lots of people were off in their vans and heading towards the South West, lucky things, but I despaired at the scenes outside the pubs in London which I have just seen on the news. I really hope that any of this doesn't start the 2nd wave off. Sorry, I'll get down off my soapbox !I did get my backside in gear yesterday and cleaned my sinks and toilets. I made a new Barbie top and another dress, the latter just needs a popper then it's finished. I might give the sewing a day off today except for the popper, as I want to clean the bedroom and then dust and hoover through the rest of the upstairs, give the bathroom a clean and then remake the bed. I think I'll finish off my day with a bubble bath soak in the tub, something to look forward toGers hugs to you and healing vibes to your DM. It must be a very worrying time for you both.ILC nice to see you.TA enjoy your cut. My roots are now more than 3ins long. I'm trying to go gracefully grey but there's not much chance of that, it's more disgracefully !!wmf I was a bit envious of you and your DGC cwtching. I hope you can enjoy that forever.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
