Failed credit check for Vodafone broadband!

Oh, the shock! Oh, the horror! I found a more or less acceptable broadband offer from Vodafone using MSE's checker. I found the VF website clunkier than most I use, but persevered to the personal details page and, whoops, got the 'failed credit check' message.
VF referred me to Experian if I had a query. They were as useful as a chocolate teapot, though did have the grace to recognise that a rating of 999 (mine) was a top rating. They said as I had a free subscription {via my credit card), they could only help me if I asked for a statutory report and waited, Huh! I stopped right there and negotiated a discount with my current supplier.
If VF don't want me, fine. I can live with that. But claiming that their credit check failed doesn't seem right. Oh, the offer is one that MSE and Martin pointed out here and on TV was about to expire. Goodbye, VF. Our relationship was very short. And somehow or other, I feel I'm unlikely to be a customer in future.

Nothing to do with Vodafone or the risk you present as a customer.4 -
A lot of bankrupts also have an Experian rating of 999, just go`s to show the number is fairly meaningless.

Thanks, folks. Yes, I know that a score doesn't mean much, even if I don't qualify as above.
It's just that the decision came from Vodafone, blaming the credit check.
Perhaps I'm too old/young/tall/short/handsome/ugly/whatever to match their required profile. But I do pay my bills correctly, so credit hasn't been a problem until now.
The offer looked attractive, but I'm all set to continue with NOW at less than they initially wanted.0 -

Yes i left them a while ago
However they are still reporting to my credit report every month. Normally i would make a complaint but for the time being i dont mind them marking my account being paid on time every month. It helps my file
I have heard this is common with vodafone - they almost always forget to cancel customers credit report notifications1 -

Yes, I did think the offer looked too good to be true. I do like the 'dodged a bullet' comments! I'm certainly not sorry they don't want me, just a little bemused.0 -
