Default dates

Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone here could answer a question I have been unable to find an answer to. I have 2 debts, one to Severn Trent water (start date 2012) and have been making regular payments of 100/month for last 18 months. They call me now and again to try to up it to £190 to make it a 'standard agreement' as they say its 'non-standard at the moment'. Credit Karma status : open. The other is from a debt collection agency (default date 31/1/2015). CK status: default. I am now in a position to pay these off. The question is will my file be clear of these when I pay them off? Am I right in thinking I have to wait til 31/1/2021 for the default to drop off but the water bill will linger? Thanks in advance.

The defaults will drop off 6 years from the default date.  The other account, if not defaulted, will drop off 6 years from closure.

I have been trying to contact British Gas about defaults showing on my Experian account. My husband was in a coma for three months, hospital for a further three months and then COVID shut everything down. I spoke to a helpful agent who gave me his extension number but I still can’t get through to him and nobody seems to be able to help me. I was behind in payments but am fully up to date now. My landlord is serving notice so now my critically ill husband and I need to move but this default is preventing me from being approved. How can I contact British Gas and can I dispute the record because I couldn’t get to speak to anybody and I didn’t know that it was being recorded on my credit file.
