Buyer dragging feet or lazy EA?

EAs generally start chasing after 3 to 4 weeks. Chains have been formed, solicitors instructed and conveyancing formalities initiated.0

It always takes longer than you want and you will need patience when things go quiet, which they will on several occasions. Chill.0

I would be more concerned about whether or not the buyer has had the survey done yet. If they have (or have a date booked) you know that they are already out of pocket so committed to the purchase. Searches and mortgages timescales are mostly out of your buyers hands.

My GP is doing most surgery appointments by phone now.But seriously, some people don't bother; some do it as part of the lender's Valuation; some do it seperatately.0

I’m fully committed to my purchase but my solicitor advised me not to pay for the searches or the survey until I get my firm mortgage offer, which I’m still waiting for after a month (self-employed, this is my second application - first fell through after broker for furloughed and I had my offer accepted on a house back in March), so that’s what I’m doing. Honestly things aren’t normal right now with regards to mortgage application timescales etc. so it’s not much use thinking of the timescale you’d usually expect a sale to take. You might need to be a bit more patient. I will say most buyers are panicking about things taking so long just as much as you may be. Most lenders have or have had a big backlog of applications and valuations to get through so things are taking a while.0
