Working from home expenses

Guys
.Gov website advises you are able to claim from your employer £4 or £6  per week for e exoenses to extra fuel bill whilst home. I am normally office based but have been working full time at home since 13 March. I asked my employer today about this and they advised they dont pay expenses for working from home. Surely this cant be right as I'm normally office based. I understand as a sales rep you apply for the job and are based at home, but for me this is not the case. How do I get paid what the government says I should be I've worked ig out it's over £90

Your understanding is not correct. You can claim tax relief for the £4/£6 per week. You can claim this via your self-assessment tax return or a P87.

you won’t get the £4/£6 you will just get the tax back on this amount so 20%/40% depending on your marginal rate of tax... so don’t expect a windfall!

There are certain rules attached. See https://www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home

It really annoys me when people say that. ThispThis home is not the office. How much is the company saving on gas electric, water etc
An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......

It doesn't matter whether the employee or employer is saving £1 or £1 million by not commuting or running an office. There is an allowance for working from home that is modest, and has certain conditions, and if the conditions are fulfilled, it can be claimed.

How much additional expense have they incurred in buying laptops, increasing video call capacity and VPNs, higher mobile phone bills...?

As already said you can claim tax relief at the rate stated.
Asking for anything else would be churlish at best.
Many people will be better off as the extra electricity and gas etc is more than offset by savings from commuting.
I spend quite a bit of time working from home and am just grateful for the opportunity to do so and that I still have a job to do because of it

For the sake of around £20 a month is it really worth worrying about? I’m of the opinion that most people (including myself) should just be thankful they have a job and that it is one they can do at home, when many can’t and are losing jobs.

For basic rate taxpayers it is £1.20 a week. It's a simple claim to make, but won't make a claimant wealthy.
