Returned transfer fee

Hi. I have an account with Fineco Bank UK, that I use for buying shares. I transferred some money from this account to my Santander 123 lite account. It never arrived. Three days later it arrived back in my Fineco account, less £25. I spoke with Santander and they said they do not charge a fee for returned or rejected transfers.
I spoke with Fineco and they said they don't charge. Upon digging, it transpires Fineco use an intermediary bank to transfer money. A swift(?) code was used (ABBYXXX) which means it was an international transaction, but exchange rate was 1.00000 and in GBP. I'm confused. All I want is my money back.
