Halifax mortgage process

Is anyone able to advise on how Halifax approach the mortgage process? At what point do they book the valuation?

I have submitted through a broker (1st time buyer) and I paid the 200 pound valuation fee upon submission of my application, I was then credit checked (hard search) and they then booked the valuation as soon as they could.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you! Have you had your offer through now? My worry is just that they will decline it after valuation booked so was wondering if they would be book the valuation if it hadn’t passed everything else. First time buyer here to!

I submitted my application on the 8th of june, the latest update from my broker is that it is at the underwriter stage for final checks. I am also worried about being rejected and have been since the 8th of june haha. All we can do is wait and hope I guess. I am under the impression from what I have read on these forums and by googling is that if they don't book the valuation they refund you your valuation fee, but don't take my word for it.

    Hope this helps.

How long was the whole process for you?
Always find comparables. You can ask, but you won’t always get what you want.

Unless it will save a lot of money review using Halifax as their retention deals are often rubbish especially if you cross one of their penalty outstanding balance boundaries that put the rates up.

My broker submitted my application to Halifax and I had the offer 6 days later. Not sure if they did a physical valuation or not. I also only had a soft credit check for identity purposes.

Hey - did you have to upload any more documents again? such as more payslips, P60 etc? or did you only do this once then they offered mortgage straight after valuation?

My partner and I submitted our application to  Halifax on 05/06 and have received our offer today. It took 5 and half weeks but my partner is self employed which probably delayed the process slightly but we finally got there. From valuation to offer took 3 working days.
Good luck to everyone still waiting for their offer.
  • I have my valuation on Thursday. What happens after that?
