This is my way of thinking also. Anything chould have happened within that time frame.Supersonos said:I got given the wrong change recently in a shop. I went straight back in but I was told it was too late and I should've checked my change before leaving.
Personally, I think the same applies here. The vehicle should've been checked over whilst the OP was still there, not four days later. The garage can't prove the OP did it and it's not beyond the realms of possibility the damage was caused in the four days following the OP's use of the car. I'd politely deny any liability.0 -
The delay in contacting you may have been due to covid,ie waiting to be cleaned.

Exactly my point. The merits of the XC90 are beside the point. She was more than happy enough to have use of it.JoshuaFreke said:
Quite the opposite actually, she really disliked the car, found it sluggish, noisy and just a pain. It was taken because it needed not because it was wanted.AdrianC said:
I bet she was more than happy enough to have use of it at the time.JoshuaFreke said:All of the above aside I'm more concerned with the legality of it all. Given that she's not signed any documentation about insurance or liability etc.
To now try to claim zero responsibility because there's no paperwork seems... churlish.0 -
Do you have a point relevant to the question? You seem to have nothing helpful to add, please can you find another post to comment on.AdrianC said:Exactly my point. The merits of the XC90 are beside the point. She was more than happy enough to have use of it.2 -
As so much time has passed, I think it's up to them to prove you damaged it. I'd be surprised if they could.JoshuaFreke said:

I'd ignore AdrianC if I were you. He always just wants a holier-than-thou argument.JoshuaFreke said:

Car returned Tuesday evening, call made Friday morning. I make that near-as-dammit two working days.Supersonos said:

Was the car used by anybody else during that time? Or was the damage noticed next time it was being handed over to a customer to use?0 -
If there wasn't a check out inspection when they handed the car to her and one when they got it back then they've not got a leg to stand on, especially if between the time they've recorded it and she handed it back it's been used by someone else.

You returned the loan car on Tuesday and the garage called on Friday to say they think the car was damaged by the child seats.
Anyone could have done anything in that car in the two days between return and phone call.
That said, it is always wise to get the return docket signed when returning the car that there is no damage.0 -
I'd want to see photos of the hire care BEFORE and AFTER you used it of that specific bit of the car.
I have the same car seats and I cannot see how you can damage any bit of the seat with them, other than leaving a slight indent where the seats sit which will disappear after a few days. ISOfix just pokes in the holes and then clicks into place - you'd have to try rather hard to cause any damage because they're so easy to fit!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1
