I have a holiday scheduled to Ras Al Khaimah in August. Emirates have changed our flight time and now we arrive in Dubai On 10th August at 00:25 rather than 07:25am. After informing Love Holidays of this they told me I will need another night booked at the hotel as we’ll be arriving earlier. They are now trying to charge me an extra £500 for the extra nights stay. Can someone help and advise me on what to do! Thank you

How many hours change to the departure time? That the significant factor, not the arrival time.
Is this a package holiday booking? ATOL certificate?
Assuming a departure time difference of around 7 hours, that's a significant change, so you are entitled to a full refund within 14 days, should you choose not to pay the extra.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I would definitely say it is a significant change which you are entitled to refuse and get a refund if it is a package holiday.  £500 for one night's hotel?  Must be some hotel.   Have you checked prices at the hotel?   Of course your other option is to go and see what time you actually arrive at hotel, then put your feet up and sleep in reception there for a few hours!

Find a plan B to avoid arriving at the hotel early.
Stay at the airport after you've collected your luggage and transfer to the hotel later in the day. Book into a cheap hotel at the airport or elsewhere and go to your preferred hotel later or as suggested (and depending on how posh the hotel is) camp out in the lobby until your room is ready.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • My thinking is most hotel rooms aren't ready until after 2 pm anyway and original flight was to get to airport at 7 ish.   So although potentially 7 hours to kill somewhere,  assuming the flight out is on time!.  Some time could well be taken up at airport, reclaiming baggage etc.   Also IF the hotel have the rooms available they may take pity on people who arrive early through no fault of their own and let them into the room earlier?   If not, it should be light early and sunbeds may be available round the pool for sleeping on!   I definitely would not pay Love Holidays another £500!!    (obviously I don't know the OP details, like if they have children, are elderly etc)

The original flight time was 21:25 on 9th August and now it’s been move forward to 14:05 on 9th August, arriving in Dubai at 00:20 +1 day... it is a package holiday booked through Love Holidays, and is ATOL protected

I think that is the current plan if we go ahead in going.. I’m definitely not got to pay an extra £500 for a few hours

I’m hoping the hotel take the pity option.. if not then sleeping next to the pool will have to be the option 😂
