My experian credit score is 999 but the MoneySavingExpert eligibility calculator says I've got 0% chance of getting a top 0% spending card!?
Thanks,

Lenders don't use your Experian credit score in making lending decisions.

Check your three credit files.  You're failing on risk or affordability criteria.

Because the score is nonsense, particuarily on experian. I've been stuck at 999 for years. It's just nonsense.

Thanks zx81, when you say check my 3 credit files, what exactly am I cheking for? I've looked at the Experian one and it looks fine apart from credit utilisation which is a tad high at 32%. Everything else (as far as I can tell) is excellent.

    Experian (you've done this)
    Credit Karma
    Clearscore  (both free mobile apps)

Credit Karma: 651/710. Just says to aim to use less than 25% of your credit to see this factor improve.
Clearscore: 326/700. Says I've had too many hard searches in the last year. I guess that's the problem.
    Thanks

So your credit karma score is nearly at the max. While your Clearscore score is way down less than halfway. Oh an Experian was 999 maxed out.

So we can see that these numbers are about as much use as a chocolate teapot. Look at the data on the files. Give the searches a miss for 6 months. pay your debt down to ideally less than 10% utilisation.

    Thanks, why less 10% utilisation?

    Lenders like it.
Shows that you don't rely on credit to "get by". But 10% isn't a hard stop. It's an analogue scale. just lower it what you can.

Thanks. I can pay it all off. It's all interest free credit cards, the money is just sitting in Marcus until interest free term expires. Just wondering where the 10% comes from?
