    I'm aware that 'joint tenants' trumps the will: my comment was made on the basis that we can't assume JT over TiC until the OP enlightens us with the basic info needed. Which, given the potential reduction of their inheritance to zero, you would have thought they would make the effort to follow up with...

    It's frustrating when posters don't respond.
    OP was online 9.29 last night, shortly after I posed the quesion....
    So the crux here is to establish if they were Joint Tenants, or Tenants In Common.
    but has not replied. Maybe he's taken on board the relevant facts and is acting accordingly, but a bit rude not to update us after we've taken the trouble to help.
