Fraudulent website

Has anyone had any dealings with Toolsbar.co.UK as I have been informed that it may be a fraudulent website, as when contacted their number I was informed that the company is a fraudulent company and have been using her phone number and someone else's address. She has informed the police but the site is still up. Does anyone know if I'm covered by my visa card company for fraudulent activities?

You're covered by section 75/chargeback if you don't received goods or services bought.

S75 only if the transaction is over £100 - otherwise its a chargeback.

Fraud by a unknown 3rd party using your card YES. Fake website is not fraud in a banks book. That falls under dispute. So if the goods do not arrive in 15 days then you have a chargeback for non receipt. So long as you do not cancel.

Interesting that the address is a house....

Most definitely looks like a scam website to me. The contact address is in Woking Surrey and appears to be residential but the phone number given is for York in North Yorkshire. The pictures and lay out look like they have copied them from a US website and I notice the bar at the bottom shows logos of payment options such as Chase Pay that would not be offered by a genuine UK retailer. Let us know if the goods turn up and if not how your card issuer go about dealing with this.

My web site business address is my home, that in itself isn't an indicator of wrong-doing or fraud.  I also use a PAYG phone for customers to ring me.

Another angle to potentially pursue is with the web host of the site - they have rules about how you can operate a site from their servers - I've had success in the past getting sites removed (usually very quickly) that were doing something improper.
