Dumped by Builder what can I do?

Just after some advice here....
About 6 weeks ago we looked at the plans of a house due to be built by August 2005. We had a house to sell and took up the builders offer to sell our home for us. A six week agreement.
They instructed the estate agents to market our property. Well the six weeks is almost up and we've had one offer made which was £1500 below the minium price we were willing to accept. (We had already knocked off £5000 to generate interest.) Unknown to us the estate got in touch with the builder who accepted the offer on our behalf ignoring our minimum price wanted. A day or two later I rang the estate agents who told us about the offer and that the builder had accepted it. I then rang the builder and expected them to say they would make up the difference.
Basically they said 'Oops sorry, I shouldn't have done that should I?'
He then continued to say it didn't matter anyhow as they were not in a position to proceed as their own house was still for sale. And by the way your 6 weeks is almost up so the house is not reserved and our agreement has finished.
Not only have I been dumped but the only people who were really interested in buying our property are going to be well annoyed when I tell them their offer is now not acceptable!
What do you think I should do?

Personally, if it was me, i'd drop the £1500 and accept the offer but it sounds like it might already be too late?He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

if the builder is messing you baout now..... think what they may be like to deal with once you move and find things that need correcting/fixing (as is the norm with new builds)smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

The problem is the couple wanting my house haven't sold theirs yet and they've just put it on the market.
When my 6 weeks is up (Friday) I will then probably have to intruct an estate agent myself or maybe try and agree a private deal. The couple that wan my house live about 100meters from me. No doubt that will upset the estate agent!! But will save me £17000
