Home Insurance Renewal - but moving overseas

hi all, my home insurance is up for renewal next week. We'll only need it for a few months as we are moving overseas. We are selling the house here in the UK.
I'm intending to get insurance as usual (building and contents) and then cancel when we do move, probably after 3 months. I've found the cheapest quote and confirmed with the company how much their admin fee is to cancel (£35) and that I will get the rest of the annual premium that I paid refunded.
Is this the right thing to do? Or is there another option? It's hard to find out each company's admin fee for cancellation (outside the 14 day cooling period) save phoning around.
(There is potential complications such as we don't sell the house and have to change to unoccupied property insurance, or even landlord insurance if we rent it out, but I am not complicating this thread with that!).
Any advice? Any company do cheap or non-existent admin fees for cancellation?
Thanks all.

A broker may be able to obtain insurance for a shorter period, but as you don't seem to have a firm departure, or sale, date it might be safer to get annual insurance which will allow you to cancel without major fees. Again, a broker is the best route for that. Price comparison sites really only work for bog standard policies.

A cancellation admin fee would seem to be the least of your concerns in the bigger scheme of things.0
