Re claim mis-sold investments

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help please: in 2007 I was advised to invest the money from my house sale by Halifax, in 2007/2008 I lost the whole of the amount I invested. I have been informed that I can try to claim this money back by using a 'Template' letter to contact Halifax, can anyone suggest where I can obtain this template letter and how I set about making a claim, any advice will be greatly received,
Many thanks, speedyp

Who advised you? Did you pay for financial advice from Halifax and do you have that documentation? What did they recommend that you invest in that lost the whole amount?1

How did you manage to lose the lot? What did you invest in? In 2007/2008 the price of shares and funds fully invested in shares generally fell by around 40%-50% and recovered in a few years, other investments may have fallen far less. Did Halifax advise you what to invest in?1

Template letters are for people who don't have a complaint but just want to get some compensation.1 -
What sort of money are we talking about?
And what on earth did you invest in that managed to lose the whole amount within a year?0 -
I though with PPI close, all this mis-selling would disappear.
Now it seems with the virus and the economy in shambles, mis-selling instead of personal responsibility will be back in the news.

13 years seems a long time to wait before wondering if you could make a claim.

Halifax have never retailed any investments that have suffered a total loss. They have only issued unit linked investments which go up and down as normal but none of their funds have shown any loss beyond the usual recovery periods.
So, the first thing is to clarify what it is you invested in. And whether you actually saw an agent from the Halifax or a fraudster as at the moment, your story does not add up.
