My DD also had this. I stopped using fabric conditioner , only used Fairy powder, washed her with water only and reduced the number of baths she had. It cleared up in no time. I also don't use baby wipes.
I had to take my ds to the doctors for the same reason and he told me to stop putting him in the bath, use a shower only (he's 4). This was to stop him sitting in soapy bubble residue from the shampoo, soap etc which doesn't get rinsed off. Again this has cleared up completely.
I do use Doublebase on my DD's cheeks as she gets "teething eczema" whenever her teeth bother her and this also works a treat.

A good olive oil rubbed into the skin helps too.0

Hi there,,,my son developed really bad eczema at about the same age...Doc gave me hydrocortizone (which is a steroid cream by the way )..It made no difference. I then found a book on child eczema, and found out bout ALOE VERA. I bought some PURE aloe vera cream, and put it all over him every night after his bath. Eczema was gone within a week,,and he still has lovely skin,at 12 yrs old...balneum oil in there bath is also a great help,,no soap tho. The aloe very cream is a bit pricy,,but it works...(and no steroids ):-)0

My son had eczema behind his knees and I put body shop mango body cream on it - the stuff in the tub - he never got it again. I have used it on my baby son, age 8 months, he has a dry rash on his face, it hasn't worked quite as well, but with regular use it takes it away.

Bath her as little as possible, and then only with plain water.
Which cream is it your HV gave you? There are loads available, and it can be a case of finding the right one for her0 -
I agree, taking less baths really helps, and using unperfumed baby wipes etc. It seems that different creams work for different people. I found Sudocrem good, but a friend of mine swears by Johnsons Baby Naturals musturising lotion.0

If it persists, the National Eczema Society is your friend!
The main thing is that the skin is dry, so you may always have to be extra careful to keep the skin well moisturised. What you use for that is a matter for taste and experimentation, but what works for one person won't work for another, and may stop working for no obvious reason. Your pharmacist may have samples if you don't want to buy all the creams and lotions every well-meaning person will recommend to you as a sure fire cure. Oh, and in every single sure fire cure there's bound to be something which someone is allergic to - DH for example can't use Aloe Vera, and E45 was always the first recommendation when my boys were young and they were allergic to something in that.
Hope it clears up - DH has had it for 50+ years!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi my ds was 2 in sept and we have had a bit of a nightmare with all the creams. We have tried lots and are still trying to find one that suits his skin.
He started at around the same time as your lo and the hv told me to out E45 cream on it which made it ten times worse and it literally spread all over his body. (he had a reaction to the lanolin in the cream which is quite common)
I must say if I were you I would try more natural methods before putting anything too chemically on it because I think sometimes it can make it worse. We bath our ds in plain bath water no soap etc just give him a good scrub lol and his skin has improved so much these last few months. We hardly have to put his steriod cream on these days as it has nearly cleared up (although he has chicken pox at the mo and its making a return).
I hope you find a solution its horrible when you can see it irritating them.

we use body shop hemp body butter. the good thing about the body shop is they give you little samples to try before you buy.0

I use "dream cream" from Lush. This is the only thing i find works on my son. He is a bit older though. He is nearly 5. I also find keeping all perfumed soaps away, helps.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0
