Nightmare taking my cat to the vet each time

I bought in the cone from the car that my vet gave me when my cat had her spay. She has never worn it and it has been 4 months since the op but she still ran away from me when she saw it in my hand. It must either still be the scent of the vets on it or she recognised the shape and paired it with a memory of the last time she was at the vets. And people say cats are stupid!0

Our cats hate the car journey wherever they go. The middle 2 and youngest, whilst not liking the vets are passive there. When kittens our middle 2 didn't mind going and would flirt with the staff when there. Our eldest doesn't like going (needed a towel when she had to have bloods taken). She's off this afternoon to get booster injections. I referred in an earlier post about her possibly needing teeth removed, depending on checkup, my wife feels if we can delay any operation to later in the year when warmer and we have finished the floor in our lounge (which is the cats' adopted room). On a separate note, a friend of ours moved to Korea with her cats. The older 2 have just been spayed and the cones and outfits they wear are just adorable. One has ducks on the cone.May you find your sister soon Helli.

. One of the vets thought it hilarious and bribed her with some cat treats that were kept in the surgery.

Just seen this. All of my cats need a specialised blood test so gradually taking them in. I have a couple of nasty ones and one drama queen who has a heart murmur. The vet has given me gabapentin and extra tablets to do a test run first.
I did a test run monitoring timings and it worked a treat with the drama queen and stopped cystitis from stress after, she just slept the visit off.
Have yet to try the gabapentin on the ones that turn psycho but hoping it will make life smoother for me and the vet as I swear the cats can smell the fear from me when we battle the cat carrier as I know who is going to come off the worst……and it’s not the cat……to the point at a previous visit with one of my feisty cats no longer with me, the vet offered to treat me aswell as the cat as my arm got slashed up nicely causing my autoimmune to kick in!Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We actually leave our cat carriers about the house open. The younger 3 go in quite happily and don't associate it with the vets. Never an issue getting them in.The oldest knows exactly what one is for and avoids them like the plague.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Our cats didn't like being in the carrier or going for a drive and would sing the whole way there and back. But complete sops when actually in the vets other than the tell tale sign of sweaty paw prints on the examination table. And when Ariadne decided the vet needed a good peeing on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
