Pay backs by some Car Insurance Companies

This is a share of information for those who may have an interest.
As a result of the lock-down, many cars were no longer on the road and if they were, then had vastly reduced mileage. Some of the Insurance companies recognised this and voluntarily contacted their customers offering a rebate if they believed their annual mileage had reduced. I have 3 different Insurers  for the cars in our family (yes I know I should consolidate them) and 2 of them, Admiral and Churchill contacted me, I completed a form and a few weeks later I received £25 rebate from both of them. Now onto my Insurer, One Call - contacted them to ask the same and they were polite about my request, went away to gather info and then presented me with ............................ by reducing your mileage this is a change to your policy and there would be no difference in the Premium paid but will cost you £59 to change the policy.
I politely declined to change the policy and let them know I would not be renewing with them and would never use them again for any Insurance cover.
We all have choices and I am sharing this so that you too have a choice.
Thanks
Bob

Or, perhaps they recognised an easy PR opportunity. But now there's potentially rising claims from rusty drivers returning to the road, cars which may have deteriorated from months of no use, possibly driving at unfamiliar times due to changes in work patterns and increased driving to avoid public transport. Add in potentially lower revenue from people getting rid of their cars or downgrading and insurance companies suffering lower returns on their investment.

So before lauding some companies and castigating others, it may be worth seeing how premiums pan out over the next year or so.
