Painting old 70’s aluminium windows

Hi, so I have some really old, ugly aluminium windows on my house and they really stand out in our street and look quite ugly to me. It will cost £10k to replace them and I haven’t got that and won’t for a long while so I’ve decided to paint them dark grey ( to look like the new ones people are getting) . I found great videos on YouTube but it was Australian and dulux don’t do the etch paint in England. I looked on amazon for etch paint and reviews of it said poor paint. I found another which said shellac zimmer paint was good but that just says interior paint .
I’m going round in circles looking for the paints to use so does anyone know what paint to use that is good and going to last? If I’m going to do it I want to do a good job. And has anyone else done this?

You can get etch primer in the UK very easily.
Just vmake sure to clean the frames thoroughly before applying it.
Smooth grey metal paint over the top followed by 2 coats of clear laquer to give it a bit of extra protection and the job will look fantastic.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

10k seems a bit excessive you must have one big house. I do plenty of windows and 5k will get you many windows fitted

I have quite a big house and it includes 2 large aluminium sliding doors so a bit pricey 😬

Thanks, do you know the name of a good etch primer? The ones on amazon didn’t have great reviews

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I've been converted to "Frenchic" paint, and whilst I haven't, personally, used it on metal window frames, I know others who have! For outside, you'd need the "alfresco" range, but for ideas/inspiration/advice, they have a Facebook "Frenchic Fan Forum.
    Good luck!
