We booked a holiday in December last year for July this year to Turkey due to COVID we called Jet2 in March before lockdown and  we changed this to August as it was cheaper deal overall even after admin fees

now fast forward the pandemic is worse than we thought and Jet2 has changed their travel dates so many times . We managed to get a extension on the due date to pay to 01/07 and waited news

we called jwt2 Saturday and they were closed for Exsisting customers so we managed webchat to cancel
we asked for refund on desposit due to FcO still advise not to travel and o didn’t want to pay £2500 on 01/07 and also due to restrictions in Turkey and fines did face masks we didn’t want to go. Jet2 said we can cabcek and lose deposit nothing else . I queried then cancelling holidays recently and they said ours was ok so we either pay and go or cancel
and loose desposit so we cancelled

today they have actually cancelled that holiday for others and they have had a refund offers .

What can we do if anything on this situation? I only done it Saturday as I have had to work Monday and Tuesday so couldn’t guarantee being able to get through to them before they took money tomorrow

can rbis be done on insurance ? Ours is an annual policy that my husband gets Through work

If you chose to cancel an August holiday in June then I can't see that you have any route to a refund of what you'd paid, regardless of what may have happened later on if you hadn't pulled the plug, unless you can prove that the adviser you spoke to on Saturday knew that the holiday had already been cancelled at that stage.

You cancelled , you lost the money.

Sorry to say that you don’t have any grounds to get the money back. As with any cancellations from yourself you will lose the deposit.
  • Oh I really feel it for you Jackson but as you were told if you cancelled you would lose the deposit then you haven't got any claim to what happened afterwards.   You cancelled on a certain date and that is it.     Really tough but legally you don't have anything to challenge. You are not the only ones to  jump too quickly but not a lot of comfort I know.
