British airways rebooked my flights

I was due to fly at the end of August, but now BA have rebooked my flights to go from Heathrow instead of Gatwick. However I don't want to travel from Heathrow, the additional cost/hassle of getting there adds an extra £100 to my holiday. I would not have selected BA originally if they only flew from Heathrow. The email BA sent to me didn't mention a refund as it's strictly speaking not a cancellation. Am I within my rights to contact BA and demand that they refund the full cost of the flights, including booking fee?

Different airport and flight number? Different take-off time? It's a cancellation and rebooking, so you are entitled to a refund.
However I'm puzzled as to how GWA to LHR adds £100 to the cost?No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
We'd booked return flights to Malaga with BA at the beginning of August. Received an email today saying that the return flight had been cancelled (no alternative) and the outbound flight (same flight number and time) had been moved from Gatwick to Heathrow. It's all on one booking reference.
Am I eligible for a full cash refund? I want to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible before I begin the fight with BA. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.0 -
Yes, change of airport is a cancellation and rebook. So you can get a refund if that's what you want.1

I am in exactly the same situation as you, perhaps even the same flight. Have you tried to contact BA? I have called multiple times this morning (it said the phone lines open at 8am - 0800 727 800) and each time I select the option for refunds the call ends instead of putting me on hold. Please let me know how you get on.
Kind regards.

If you want a refund, then do a chargeback on your card. The phone lines are blocked solid and have been for weeks: it's a deliberate policy to push you towards taking a voucher online. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks Macman. I have seen another thread which states that the best way to speak to BA is to follow British Airways on twitter and send them a DM. I have just done this, they asked for a few details and said they will hand my refund query over to an agent. Thought it was worth a try before requesting chargeback.0
