HSBC underwriters

My daughter got a text from HSBC to contact them as further info required. She did this answered the question and was then connected to the underwriters. After an hour and a half on hold she had to hang up. But we cannot find any number to contact them anywhere. Does anyone have a number Or email for the underwriting section or will it have to be via customer services Again. Thanks in advance

The number for underwriting is 0345 603 0171. Unfortunately the wait time can range from 1hr to 2hrs, however well worth the wait to get answers as they are super helpful. It's frustrating being on hold but it is a necessity in order to progress your application. My partner and I received our HSBC offer today (from application being submitted to mortgage offer took us 11 days!) but we never would have gotten the mortgage in this timeframe had I not called everyday. Looked at my phone records and I have racked up over 20 hrs on the phone to them over the past 11 days!1

On the online application, it's showing our application may be 'under review' but the status is still 'Decision Obtained'. Was that the same with your application? I am hoping that it is being reviewed but there's no way to know for sure without calling HSBC. Guess will just keep on trying. Hopefully, will have an update by end of this week at least.

HSBC have been nothing short of a nightmare for us. Kicked around our application for 2 weeks. We’ve had to chase every step of the way. Finally got it escalated and spoke to our credit officer today, only for my partner to be quizzed about her self-employed income and asked how she got to the figure she provided for her income - even though the figure we’ve provided is the figure that comes from her self assessments... he then proceeded to tell her that we need to go back and get an appointment with an adviser. Absolutely ridiculous.
Unfortunately, my partner took the call whilst I wasn’t there so I wasn’t able to speak to him myself. Have a Call scheduled in with him tomorrow so that I can understand just exactly what he’s going on about and what’s going on.0 -

We're on the verge of cancelling it with HSBC and going with a different lender. We'll get there... as I'm sure we ALL will!1

While HSBC are among the pickiest lenders and strictest, it would be prudent to consider getting a broker who are familiar with HSBC, than DIY and going straight.
The broker will know whats needed and may predict what you may need depending on the documents you gave to them. They will then handle the rest. All this stress on waiting in the call queue, speaking to someone who doesn't know your case is a nightmare in itself
Brokers will usually have direct contacts or contacts they know in the underwriting team, but most of all minimal contact needed by you.
My broker handled everything for me, no phone call, just a few emails for documents and jobs done. Had some queries but sent the documents and the broker had to sort it out.
I simply don't have time to chase lenders, my broker was free and local too. Which was a bonus, but I have used paid brokers to good effect too."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I followed up with a call today to try and speak to the underwriter myself so that I could clarify what the problem is and after 2hrs on hold was told that he's on holiday until Monday...... something that his team seemingly forgot to mention yesterday, ironically...
They truly seem incapable of coping with the current demand yet they're still putting products to the market that don't help themselves i.e. 95%-90% LTV.
We've submitted an application elsewhere now via our original mortgage broker.0
