Hi, I booked a return flight to Sri Lanka in March with Qatar Airways via BudgetAir website, during this time i was in the country we had to follow the UK GOV advice and Sri Lanka government as the boarders were going to be closed due to increasing COVID cases. We had to purchase another one way flight back to London cutting our trip  very short. I later found out the original return flight was also cancelled partly which would have left us stranded in Doha.
My travel insurance HolidayExtra's do not want to refund me when i spoke to them on the phone and asked me to contact flight operator. Flight operator is saying i need to contact travel agency!
I dont really know what my next step is. Would be very grateful for some advice on next steps to try and get some sort of refund for the money I have lost.
Thank you,
Simone

Why are you trying to claim on your travel insurance without first asking the company that sold you the flight? That should be your first recourse, not the airline or insurer So what do BudgetAir say?

  • Hi thank you for your reply I have emailed the agency and I am awaiting a reply. If they are resistant in providing a refund would i have to go back to insurer or airline?
@Vol69 I called the number on the policy claim form 0203 829 6740

Neither, do a chargeback on your card if they don't refund within 14 days of your request. Your insurer is your last recourse, only  after all the others have failed.
They won't be 'resistant': they'll either offer you a refund or they won't.
