debit card question

Hello.  I have just joined the forum, not sure I am posting in the correct category, I hope someone can help me?   My sister in law  is "forgetful" and I help her with her finances under an LPOA>   She keeps buying services ( plumbing cover, appliance cover, etc etc) over the phone.   Is there a debit card that can ONLY be used in shops  and cannot be used for such phone transactions. she banks with Nat west  Any help appreciated.  chrisgbb

Barclays have a feature in their app that allow you to turn off remote purchases, that may help

Starling Bank allow you to order a second debit card, called a Connected Card, which can only be used in shops, not online or over the phone.

Starling bank also allows you to switch off the main transaction types, so as long as you have control of the app and she just has the card, you limit it to "card present" transactions only. An alternative could be to not give her a physical card, but instead, just add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay. She'd still be able to pay in shops, but wouldn't have the card details required for "card not present" transactions.

Try the Halifax. Freeze online and remote transaction - stops online, in-app, phone and mail order payments. https://www.halifax.co.uk/aboutonline/download-apps/card-freezes/

She would need the physical card to add it to a Mac as she would need to enter the cards CVV number as each device is given its own unique Identifier code.
