Hi, Im needing some technical advice, hoping someone can help!
Bit of background first....
I have bought a TV for each of my lads for christmas, they share a room and have an old PS2, nintendo64 and Xbox already, which they have to plug and unplug into an old portable, so this will be a great upgrade for them.
We have looked at several models and decided on two flat screen 15' LCD DVD combi's, and bought them on the advice in the shop that one of the sockets was a headphone output socket, (great we thougt, both kids can play and watch TV, and not bother each other, or us!!)
This is the problem.....tested the headphones today and no sound, with a bit of research on the net, we now find out that the socket is actually an audio PC input!!!
We went back to the shop and another assistant said we were not advised properly, he would have known that headphones would not work.....(pity we did not see him when we bought them then!!!)
Anyway, does anyone know of a way of converting another socket to allow headphones to work????? Im maybe clutching at straws, but if it is possible with a bit if tweeking it would be GREAT!
sockets avaliable are:
VGA audio (the audio computer input one)
VGA (to connect to a computer to use TV as a monitor)
audio input (red and white)
video input (yellow)
s-video connector
scart socket
aerial input
the nintendo64 uses an aerial input, the Ps2 uses the white and yellow and the xbox uses a scart (you will probably know this anyway as you are all techies!!!!)
I'll be crossing my fingers...

If you were not advised properly I would make them take them back and sell you what you wanted in the first place.
No sense in 'making do' with something that is brand new!0 -
I think the scart if the only access you will have to an audio output (unless you start opening the thing up and getting some rewiring done)

Cant see how this will work mind you as it appears to have a 3.5mm jack as opposed to a socket on it.
Can you not return them as they are not what you wanted? We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Thanks for your replies, and I guess you are both right, we will try and return them, and then be very definate about the headphones output when looking for an alternative, hope the shop will accept them!0
