Furlough- no redundancies as less than 2 yrs.

Options
Hi everyone just need some advice please for my partner. He’s been on furlough for 12 weeks. His boss contacted him today saying there is no work and has to let him go. There Is only 2 of them in the worship( this includes his boss)  and I know his boss is not the most honest person when it comes to money . So I want to make sure it’s all done And above board. But I have no idea of the rules especially in the mechanic world!
1. He is less than 2 yrs employed with this company.
2: is he entitled to anything?
3: is he entitled to annual leave calculated from January to July?
4: Any reason why his boss can’t keep him on furlough till October? Perhaps NI and pension reasons.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

4 - furlough will soon start to cost employers. In essence it costs them now because employees still build up holiday.

he is not entitled to redundancy but he will be entitled to annual leave (his boss could have made him take it whilst furloughed but that would’ve required advance notice, so it will still have been accruing) To be honest from August the 1st as the furlough scheme starts to cost employers progressively more many more people will find themselves in his shoes.

    1. He is less than 2 yrs employed with this company. Nothing under statute, check employment contract
2: is he entitled to anything? One week's notice under statute and accrued holiday, check employment contract
3: is he entitled to annual leave calculated from January to July? Accrued holiday pay has to be paid
4: Any reason why his boss can’t keep him on furlough till October? Perhaps NI and pension reasons. He could be kept on until 31 July without cost to the employer apart from extra accrued holiday pay, but this may be the issue
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't think there's anything special in the mechanic world.

Maintain a good relationship with the "boss".  Business may well pick up as time passes. At some point may rehire again.
