Private function tickets postponed to alternative date

Hi, just wanted to know where I stand if i were to request a refund for tickets bought for a ball event which didnt go ahead due to lockdown, however the event has been rescheduled to a date next year. This is a privately arranged fundraising event, but some members of my group are unable to go on the re-arranged date. I know that if the event was cancelled say by the hotel then we would be reimbursed, however unsure with the event being rescheduled. Advice welcome.

You should be able to get a refund. The government is advising events to refund if asked.0
