Hi, our hotel we booked is closed and has confirmed it will definitely be closed throughout July, but our travel operator has said our holiday is still going ahead. We booked through  a travel agent and they have said that they have heard nothing from the tour operator but if they do they will forward options onto us.  Are they allowed to just change the hotel we booked and paid for ?  Thanks

Changing your hotel is likely to be deemed a significant change, so effectively triggers cancellation/refund rights if you don't want to accept alternatives.

Depends on the travel operator, some class changing hotel to a similar one as an insignificant change, who did you book with?

Ultimately it comes down to interpretation of the Package Travel Regulations 2018, which can't be overridden by Ts & Cs, so even if a package provider considers a hotel change to be insignificant, that's unlikely to be an incontestable position....

That is assuming it is a package holiday and not accommodation only.

Our hotel booked with Jet2 is closed for the rest of the year. They’ve cancelled our holiday and are refunding us.

OP certainly implies a package but if it's accommodation only then it's even harder to assert that a change of hotel isn't significant!

It is a package holiday that we have booked through Hayes with Jet2.  Thanks

Jet 2 think a hotel is insignificant if the same standard, so they won't automatically refund you.

  • Hi we have a holiday booked for September but the hotel is only doing self catering but we booked half board and a lot of people are saying jet2 are cancelling holiday so they can make more money on the new bookings so is there any thing we can do without having the fees with changing the hotel

I wouldn't listen to ' hear say'.  Nearer to your holiday if Jet 2 confirm you can only now go self catering they should adjust your payment accordingly.   September is a long way ahead in Covid terms, so don't worry just now.
