Hi, Ryanair cancelled our flights to Tenerife early August. We have booked a non-refunable All Inc hotel. The hotel state they will re-open 17th July and obviously won't refund. Can you claim chargeback on a credit card as the service the hotel will provide won't be the same/not as described as when we initially booked, having to wear masks, no all inc buffets, restrictions on pool use etc etc? Alternatively, as the flights are cancelled and we can't effectively get there can you claim under section 75 on credit card for 'consequential losses'?
Many thanks

Unless your flight and hotel bookings are linked together as a package then you have no claim against the hotel, or any payment card companies, or Ryanair (for the hotel), but you may be able to claim on travel insurance?

Given recent threads on this board Martin Lewis really needs to do a piece on what chargebacks can actually be used for, lot of recent threads are variations on a theme.

Assuming that you booked flights and hotel separately then no you don’t have a case to claim from your card provider.

This is a downside to booking elements on their own the protection weakens if something goes wrong. Also without being unkind non refundable means just that, it’s why it’s offered as a cheaper rate when booking.

At a push if you have insurance they might look at a claim but it’s not guaranteed especially if their wording excluded pandemics etc.
