Booking.com - Non Refundable able Holidays

We booked a holiday via Booking.com back in Sept 2019 and used the option to pay the villa direct. We cancelled this due to the pandemic Even though we were not due to travel till August. We read that the cost of cancellation would 30% so we decided to take the hit and get the rest back however when we cancelled we got an email to say there are no cancellation fees as the holiday was non refundable and we just won’t get any money back. I still have the original email and it doesn’t state it was non refundable at the time I made it or anything relating to this on the confirmation email at the time of booking? Have I got any grounds to claim a refund? X
