    13 years ago it would've been far more acceptable to sell with 78 years left. Nowadays, it's much higher.

    You might not have understood what leasehold meant, but it most definitely would've been written on documentation you read (even on the property particulars themselves). Flats are leasehold, so perhaps your solicitor thought you would have at least that much knowledge if you were buying a flat.

    PS The EAs work for the seller, not you. I doubt they'll do much to protect your best interests.
