iOS 10 and British Gas account

I recently switched to British Gas Energy Plus Account Mar 2021. Although I was able to complete the application and see my account online for a couple of weeks, I can no longer access the account. British Gas now says that I need iOS 10 for this. I cannot afford to update my iPad and this one does not allow me to upload this app. Long conversation with BG today who said I should buy new iPad!
Not told this when I signed up. As I said I could access it and sign up at the outset. Anyone else with this problem or who can advise? Shouldn't they be arranging access for customers in this situation, as other companies have done.

Instead of using the app have you tried accessing their website via a web browser (for Apple you will have Safari by default) and logging into your account that way?

Well unfortunately the fact you have a depreciated Apple product isn't the problem of British Gas.

What device do you have that cannot run iOS 10?  That came out in 2016, but the support list for that version goes as far back as the iPhone 5 which came out in 2012.

I guess you have an iPad 2 you are stuck with ios 9.3, as Neil49 says use safari
