Application for a new gas service pipe to be routed to residential address

Hello,
In February I started researching how to get a Gas Connection Pipe routed from the main gas line up to my residential address, all the properties in the cul-de-sac are all electric.
In March I noticed engineers from Cadent Gas were working in the cul-de-sac, I spoke to the engineers performing the work, they were routing an off shoot pipe from the main gas line into the cul-de-sac as part of a residents application.
I've since had a surveyor's visit as part of my joint application the cost for the survey £494. My neighbour are sharing the costs for our application and for routing the pipe to the front of our properties.
I've now received a bespoke quotation from Cadent Gas which is £10,602 for our joint application, this is before we even think about adding the cost for a boiler, radiators, fitting etc.
Would anyone have any experience to share about this? and how to get a more competitive price? who to contact etc?

Thank you in advance (I live in the Manchester area if that helps)

Don't think you can get competitive quotes for the installation as far as your property. The local distributor has a monopoly,

Could you get more residents to join in? Costs would go up but be divided by more properties.

"There are alternative companies to Cadent that can be used to either make a new connection, alter existing pipework or disconnect services, they are known as Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIP’s) and can be found on the Lloyds Register website. "

I'm guessing that you might have to pay for another survey if you go with someone else unless the survey is yours and is accepted by the second party.

You might end up having to pay for another survey and ending up with a cost that's roughly the same or even more. Talldave probably has the best solution, get others to join in if you can but ideally as part of the initial installation.

Once the spur has been installed then I suppose any other residents could then tap into it without having had to contribute to the initial installation cost which I'm sure would annoy you immensly

Thank you for getting in touch.
I've found from my calls today that there's a Lloyds Register which lists accredited companies for new gas connections.
Gary at Lloyds Register was very helpful.
    I'll see what this brings.

Did Cade the send you a plan? That cost sounds very much like an application with lots excavation. Have they included for the cost of the T, that is newly installed up your cul de sac?
Also have you approached other neighbours to see if they are interested in sharing the cost?

Hello, thank you for your reply,
Just a couple of questions to make sure I understand :
What type of plan are you referring to?
I confirmed to the Project Manager at the time of survey, that my neighbour within the close, had her gas supply extended into the close, with the intention that the residents could connect of this, there doesn't seem to be any reference to this from the cost.
You mentioned about the cost of the 'T 'that is newly installed, would you be able to explain what a 'T' is and what I should be asking Cadent?
My next door neighbour and I are doing a joint application, we are both property owners, the rest of the houses in the Close are owned by the Guinness Housing Partnership (Affordable Housing).

So if I've understood correctly, there are 3 households involved in this.
#1 has already paid to have gas brought to their property in the close.
#2/#3 Now wish to benefit from the proximity of the gas supply and have it extended to the front of their properties for which you have been quoted £10,602.
Presumably you have additional costs to bring the gas from the street into each house?
... and there are no other households who would be interested in this due to them all being 'affordable  housing' ?

    Hello,
Yes, your summary of all the households involved is correct.

After the gas connection pipe is completed the gas line will need to be brought from the street into the house.

I've contacted the Guinness Partnership, who own the social housing to ask if they're planning any future works.
