Just to let you know,  I have been awaiting refunds from expedia for a package holiday where the flight was cancelled so the whole package was void.
They have been very poor at communication (didn't tell me my flight was cancelled) and then wanted me to cancel which I declined to do. They then said they could request a refund but it was up to the airline. I have just noticed a flight credit note on their website ref my bookings (hotel was refunded almost immediately) but on calling them tonight they have confirmed I am eligible for a full refund but it could take up to 12 weeks.
I got this far by quoting the package holiday regulations at them and getting escalated past the first layer of call handlers.
Stick with it and point out that the package (if you're sure it was one) was effectively cancelled as soon as the flight element was no longer in place, so that's down to them to remedy.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
