I know this is an old post.

But if anyone else found themselves here like I did trying to find how to turn of auto renewal - here is how:

Go to your app, click on the renewal tile, click on “I’m not happy about the renewal”,

a page will open asking about the other insurer, in small print under this is the wording “ I don’t have another price” or something to that affect, click on that hyperlink!,

it’ll then give you a discount (where was this when I had the renewal quote??) and many emails will start to fly your way, ignore them and click “no thanks!” ,

a pop up will say “Do you want to cancel your renewal?, roll your eyes and tick the box to say yes you understand that after that date you won’t be insured with Hastings,

a button below will turn green saying “cancel my renewal” click it!

A page will load with a message crying about seeing you go, and that you can always come back to them before the date of your current policy ending, and it’ll confirm the date of your current policy ending.

You’ll get another email confirming they won’t renew your policy

    you're free, run!

I cancelled because they quoted me £200 less that last year.. bear with me.. I then found out bumper stickers count as a modification to them (and some other insurers! And not disclosing the. Will void your policy! I’m looking at all you with a baby on board sticker!!), I have a mini and I’m part of mini groups where you have membership numbers which is what’s on my car, not wraps! Go faster stripes or anything snazzy, just one that has “ It’s a Mini adventure” and one for the club I’m in!. So I declared them and the renewal came back as an additional £200 on what I paid this year, so my tiny little bumper stickers were going to cost an additional £400 on what their originally quoted me before they knew about them, now yes I could have just taken the stickers off and saved myself a drama but I detest this kind of capitalism, and I’m petty, so I’ve cancelled the renewal.

Car insurance companies who don’t believe a car sticker count as a modification are as follows: Aviva, Mini Flex, Admiral.

Direct line you have to declare, Hastings you have to declare, and many others, so if you have so much as a zoo number sticker or a baby on board sticker, you need to either remove it or check with your insurer if you need to declare it as a modification. Be warned!
