SEISS approved, code given, then rejected??

Options
Hi

My husband's claim for SEISS was finally approved 16th June after much to-ing and fro-ing (he was over threshold for 2018-19 but under for 2 previous tax years, overall profit over 3 years £36k - so eligible), he got a code and was told the amount he would be paid. Told to wait 6 days. Then told to wait 10 days. He's just called them again - on the day it was processed and approved (16th June) it was 'rejected'!!!! Utterly ridiculous!! Even the people on the phone can't work out why it has been rejected! This is a total shambles. Our mortgage holiday stops tomorrow and our payment will come out! My husband had has NO income since March! I wish we could claim compensation for the bloody stress they're causing us!

So what did the people on the phone suggest? They must have given a reason or somebody else for you to contact if they could not help you.

My husband has just been called back. They now want photos of passport and utility bill emailed, so they can pay out. But personally I don't trust this to happen.

It sounds like he was flagged as a potentially fraudulent claim which is one of the main reasons that eligible people have had claims denied. The major cause of these fraud flags being triggered is that an accountant or other third party has submitted the claim on the recipients behalf, did he submit his claim himself or did his accountant do it for him?

He did it himself. He's just finally been paid the amount this morning. Massive relief!

My husband had the same thing - checked this morning and it said it had been issued - checked bank not in there yet - does it go in the bank the same day

Faster payments can show within minutes, but issued and processed for payment could be slightly different, it also might not show until the next day if it is made via BACS.

Thank you- will keep an eye on the bank - at least it’s changed from processing to issued at last
