TUI Airport changes

Hi. We booked a holiday to Rhodes in September last year to depart in August this year. Our departure airport was Doncaster with a Friday 6am flight. It appears that all Friday flights from Doncaster to Rhodes have been cancelled and they are only flying on a Tuesday now.  I am trying to arm myself with information for when TUI contact me, so have been looking round their website. Their only flights on the same day are from Birmingham - considerably further away from where we live and with totally different flight times - 16:55 departure.  We have also learnt from various forums that a large number of the major hotels in the resort we are visiting will not be opening.  If TUI tell us that we have the option to change dates or airports, would they also have to offer us a cancellation refund? I have to be honest, with all the restrictions, we really don't want to go this year, and the prices for next year are way too expensive so we don't really want to move it to next year and pay so much more. If TUI refuse the option of a cancellation, would there be enough material change there for a successful application for my credit card company to refund me the money?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Change of departure airport is a significant change and they would have to offer a refund.

A good place to start would be the TUI website, terms and conditions

    https://www.tui.co.uk/destinations/info/booking-terms-and-conditions

"If we tell you about a major change after you book your holiday, you can accept the new arrangements offered by us; or accept a replacement holiday from us of the same or similar standard and price at the date of the change, if we are able to offer you one; or cancel your holiday with us and receive a full refund."

Change of UK departure airport airport constitutes a major change.

I did look at that, the only problem is it also states that this may not apply if there are "exceptional circumstances" and they include the words epidemic and pandemic!

I read it as they just wont pay compo for events beyond their control, and compo only applies if you accept the changes they have made anyway.
