I hope someone could help please.    My son had booked for a group of us to travel to Prague to celebrate his 21st Birthday.   It was booked before the Covid-19 lockdowns began and we were due to travel 29th May.   Of course, we could not go and are struggling to get our money refunded.    The hotel was booked through Booking.com on his credit card.   The hotel was open on the dates mentioned and the booking was non-refundable and thus we were not able to claim off the hotel for not being able to use the rooms.   The borders were closed at that time I believe.    His insurance company have stated that he can only claim for his room despite him paying for all the rooms in the party (6 in total).   If each person needs to claim off their insurance how can they do this if they have not paid for the rooms from booking.com.    Any advice very welcome.   Alternative routes to get the money back also welcome.   Thanks.  Gareth.

Yes, each person  needs to claim on their own insurance for their share of thee cost. It doesn't matter who paid for it. They can show their insurance the total charge and it will be apportioned for their share.
They then give the money to your son if they have not already paid him.

It will only be through the persons individual insurances for each share of the accommodation, if they haven’t got any then they won’t be able to get their money back.
