Car insurance

Hi , can anyone please help me with a bit of information regarding new car insurance. I hit the rear of another vehicle at low speed . No damage was caused, details were exchanged just in case of any future claim. I informed my insurance company of the accident, however no claims have been made by either party up to now ( date of accident June 2019 ) . Question is.. do I need to mention about accident to a new insurance company if no claims have been made?.

Without a doubt, the answer will be yes.
Even though a claim may not have been made, an accident has been reported and this will now be recorded on the insurance database so if you fail to mention it, you stand a good chance of your policy being voided in the future, something that will cost you dearly in years to come.

Even though a claim hasn't been made yet, there is no guarantee that there won't be one in the future especially as you hit the back of the other vehicle. All it could take is for the driver or any passengers (if there were any) to get contacted by a no win, no fee lawyer to tell them that they could get compensation for the whiplash or other injuries suffered because of the crash and this can happen at any time up to 3 years from the incident.

There is a clear rule of thumb with motor insurance: if in doubt, disclose it. If you do but you don't need to it doesn't matter; if you don't but you do need to - see above.

Clue: This is the exact wording the Meerkats ask...
"Have you had any motor accidents, claims or losses in the past 5 years, no matter who was at fault or if a claim was made?"
...and when you hover the mouse over that, this explanatory text pops up...
"It is really important to tell us about any claims (including unsettled claims), accidents or losses that are motor vehicle related."

So... what do YOU think they mean by that? Do YOU think that includes hitting somebody, telling your insurance, but not actually claiming...?
