If they were OK for your budget and better for you you'd have a wedge in the bank at least enough to cover the potential bill and ideally you could use to make a lump sum payment or to buy another car outright in cash. You haven't.If you want to do what is best for your budget buy a car you can afford. Plenty of bargains sub £1000 on Facebook stuff for sale pages. You could buy one of those, run it into the ground, scrap it after a year and still save money over how you're currently running a car.
