Cash for me evertime now, went down the pcp route a while ago but being in debt made me uncomfortable, so just cash for eveything now, my daily astra is paid for and so is the e46 m3 took a while to save for it but got there is the end. my parents are very old school cash for everything, mum and dad have never had a credit card or a loan only debt was the mortgage which is now gone, the point im making is you make better and quicker progress by not paying out in fees and interest to companys, hence why you have the cash to buy outright so go for it.

People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

If you have the cash, then it has to be cash.  You might 'tweak' that if the finance comes with a discount and you can pay it straight off, but that is still cash to you to all intents and purposes.

I am confused why the parents are interfering or feel they have any right to comment, unless they know you really don't have the cash and the car purchase is neglecting something that really should be a far higher priority.

One other thing to look out for is the sales patter and all the extras.  My wife bought her car a couple of years back at £14k.  The salesman spilled out a whole load of insurances she could buy, I diligently wrote them all down, added them up and explained that the insurances came to £7k, for which we were better to keep the £7k and so long as the car made it through a couple of years, the money we have not spent is enough to get back into the same car again.
