Most will be happy to give you a card if you pass their risk criteria and have the income to support it.
Your income will likely be too low for the better providers.1 -
What about getting one while you still work ? You might get a better APR and decent credit limit and then just keep it....1

I've been retired 5 years, in those times I've got 4 new 0% cards, a £10K loan and approved for finance for a lease car. It's all down to affordability.1

They ask you for your current income and may ask if you expect this to fall next year. This is more important than your employment or retirement status.thebullsback said:HI all,I am due to take early retirement next year and I am wondering if as a retire I can still get Credit cards,HP ect.MY pension income will be £10,000 pa ( Iam male 61) I also have money tied up in sipps, isas, premium bonds ect.Im just curious as to lenders thoughts on retirees

I got hold of a Sainsbury’s credit card
(20 month interest free ) just before I took early retirement. I use it for monthly household expenditures and just pay the minimum and put the £500/600 what I
would of paid into premium bonds every month. The idea being cash them in a month before the cards interest free period is up and pay off the outstanding
balance . You never know I might hit the biggie !
